MAQET’s “DOORJAMBS: Home and Borders” Group Exhibition at Woodbine Gallery in Soho (Canal + Broadway)

May 2026

I showcased a garment rack full with handmade clothes, all of which were thrifted/ pre-loved clothes that I screenprinted on and upcycled to make into new pieces; this also included accessories like hats and bags, as well as a mirror sculpture. The presentation included a handmade sign, and books written by artists who conduct grassroots organizing for collective liberation, laid out for participants to pick up, peruse, dog-ear a page…

“This exhibition will be a multidisciplinary space for artists to engage with their own understanding of home, as well as offer a forum to interact with the politicization of home. Home is impossible to define, forced into legal and bureaucratic logic, and beautifully subjective to each of us.

We envision ‘Doorjambs’ taking place in a city community space with participatory artworks and programming that engages with local community and ICE Out organizing. As a collective, we do not censor the work of any artist; all voices are welcome, and entry is free for participants. We encourage artists to express themselves freely and fully.”
